A MAN has been arrested after injuring 14 people in a horrific smash involving a marquee containing a private party.

The man, believed to be in his late sixties, was arrested by officers following the incident, which took place at Dean Farm near Nether Wallop around 11.15pm last night.

Police say the car collided with the marquee, which contained a party full of people.

14 are said to have been injured in the incident and eight have been taken to a number of hospitals in Hampshire and Salisbury.

Although police have been unable to give details on those injured in the incident, they say that none of the injuries are life threatening.

Police remain at the scene and have been supporting the ambulance service.

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit are leading an investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision and have been speaking with many of those attending the private party.
