AUTHORITIES dealing with a horrific crash which resulted in the injury of 14 people have released further details.

Emergency services were called to crash, which took place at Dene Farm in Nether Wallop around 11pm last night, after a car smashed into a marquee which was being used to host a private party.

At the time authorities said that 14 people were injured in the accident although it has now been confirmed that eight of those were taken to hospital.

It is also believed at this time that none of the injuries are life threatening.

A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service said they received a 999 call at 11.07pm.

She added that the service sent eight ambulances to the scene - six from South Central Ambulance Service and two from the South West Ambulance Service.

They also dispatched their hazardous area response team and three extra officers to deal with the incident.

Three patients were taken to Salisbury District Hospital, two to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, in Winchester, one to the North Hampshire Hospital, in Basingstoke, and two were taken to Southampton General Hospital.

Officers from Hampshire Police Roads Policing Unit are leading an investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision.

They have been speaking with many of those attending the private party.

Police have also confirmed that the man driving the vehicle, who is believed to be in his late sixties, has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
