Mentor groups students in Brunel 4 at Winton Community Academy raised £212.72 for the appeal.

The school had a non-uniform day but Brunel 4 wanted to go the extra mile and raise as much cash as possible.

The students, encouraged by their mentors Mr Sean Flavell and Mr King, set about raising money through cake bakes, car washes, a sponsored jog and other events.

Students at the Clere School broke their own record by raising £1,235.

Pupils were given the opportunity to be entrepreneurs for the day, with every tutor group running their best money-making ideas during the afternoon, as well as the usual Pudsey merchandise and bake sale in the morning.

Matt Finnegan, Year 9 progress leader at The Clere, said: “We were delighted with the effort from all of the students this year.

“Tutor groups did a fantastic job of thinking up and planning their ideas.”

There were a lot of superheroes at Icknield School, as well as various stalls in which the heroes were able to spend some pocket money on.

There was also a lucky dip, pin the patch on Pudsey, cake and biscuit stalls, homemade bookmarks, facepainting, Pudsey headbands, and chocolates as well as superhero handprints, which all helped the school to raise £274.81.

Andover College Level 2 and 3 Early Years students donned their fancy dress costumes to brave the cold in the town centre to raise money.

The generous residents of the town donated £1,332.43.

Since 1994 College Early Years students have raised £23,544.28.

Andover’s local community group, 4 Toons – Dave and Pam Brackston, Mary Barrett and Irene Williams – busked for two hours at the Asda store on Friday to raise funds for Children in Need.

Group member Irene Williams said: “We were thrilled with the response of shoppers, and some people who came specifically to hear us and donate to this worthy cause.”

An Andover youngster, who won a Pride of Andover award for her courage after being diagnosed with a brain tumour, performed live from Arundel Castle joining 1,500 children from 10 locations across the UK, as part of the BBC Children in Need Choir on Friday.

Not only did Rosie Rickards, 14, get to meet Pudsey Bear, but she was helping to boost awareness about brain tumours and the support her family received from The Brain Tumour Charity after her diagnosis in September 2013.

Employees from Lloyds Banking Group, Charlton Place headed over to LBG in Fareham to take the donation calls for Children in Need.

The Andover site has already raised over £33,000 this year including over £4,000 just this month for its charity of the year, Children in Need, which will then be doubled by LBG’s “Matched Giving” policy.

This total has been achieved by having a months paid dress down, raffling holiday and holding a cake/bake sale.
