NORTH West Hampshire will be voting to leave the EU in the upcoming referendum – according to our recent online poll.

We asked readers of www.andoveradvertiser.co.uk how they plan to vote in the upcoming referendum with UK residents set to take to the polls in less than a month.

Of the 938 responses received over the three-day poll, 68 per cent said they would be voting to leave the EU.

Just 250 people sided with the remain camp, making up around 27 per cent of the vote, while five per cent of readers confessed to being undecided.

Andover Liberal Democrat chairman, Richard Rowles, is leading the local Remain campaign and he believes the vote will be much closer come polling day.

He said: “I think if that poll is representative then it doesn’t look good.

“However I don’t think it is representative.

“The national vote suggests it is a lot closer than that and I think it’s the same in North West Hampshire.”

However Conservative Test Valley borough councillor Phil North believes the poll reflects public opinion in the area.

He said: “The Advertiser poll clearly demonstrates the strength of feeling among Andover residents with more than two-thirds wanting to leave the European Union.

“The conversations I’ve had with people in the High Street as part of our Vote Leave campaign days backs that up.

“We will continue to campaign, making the positive case for Brexit to persuade those yet to make up their mind.

“I’m sure many more will join the wining team.”

The official date for the referendum is Thursday, June 23.

TVBC have recently announced that they are currently sending out poll cards.

In order to vote, residents need to be registered on the Register of Electors.
