TEST Valley residents have voted to LEAVE the European Union.

The result was announced at 3.55am at Andover Leisure Centre.

The Advertiser is live at the count and can report that 39,091 votes were cast in the borough for Leave. The figure for Remain was 36,170, which represents a 52-48 split in percentage terms.

The official turnout is 79.6 per cent in Test Valley, higher than in many parts of the UK.

A total of 75,316 votes were cast in the borough, out of nearly 94,559 eligible voters.

Nationally Leave has narrowly beaten Remain, attracting over 17 million votes.

While there are fewer people at the leisure centre tonight compared with last year's general election count, there is a small band of largely Conservative and UKIP figures in attendance here.
