POLICE are appealing for the Good Samaritan who intervened when a woman was being assaulted as she returned from Andover Carnival to come forward.

The 40-year-old woman was walking between Old Down Road and Stubbs Court from the carnival at around 9pm on Sunday, 17 July, when a man grabbed her by the throat.

During the assault she was pushed to the ground and kicked while she was lying on the floor.

Another man from the Stubbs Court area came to the assistance of the woman and asked her attacker to stop.

An argument ensued between the two men allowing her to flee the scene.

She sustained bruising during the incident.

Her attacker is described as being white, 6ft 1ins tall and of a medium build.

PC Sarah Warner said: “We want to speak to the man who came to the assistance of this woman as he may have information which could help with this investigation.

“If this was you, please call as what you saw could really help.”
