ONE of Andover's most famous names is to be honoured with a blue heritage plaque.

Reg Presley, lead singer of The Troggs, will have a Heritage Foundation Blue Plaque erected in his honour this weekend.

The plaque was organised and paid for by Andover Town Council.

The 60s icon, who died in 2013, was born and grew up in Andover, where he met his fellow band members.

The plaque will be placed outside of 12 the High Street, the original location of the Copper Kettle, where The Troggs used to play in the 1960s.

It will be unveiled by the singer's widow on Sunday 31 July - exactly 50 years after the Troggs' hit 'Wild Thing' broke into the top 10 in the UK and reached No.1 in the US.

Residents and Trogg fans are welcome to watch the unveiling, which will take place at 12pm.
