AN AMBULANCE service has said that a man taken to hospital following a crash on the A303 is in a 'life-threatening condition'.

The incident happened around 11.55am on Monday 15 August on the A303 westbound near to the turning for Overton and Micheldever station.

Two lorries, a HGV and a refuse truck, were involved in the crash, which left the driver of the HGV trapped in the cab.

The male, in his 50s, was taken out of the cab and taken by land to North Hampshire Hospital.

A spokesperson for the services said that he is in a life-threatening condition, with potentially life-changing injuries.

The road is currently closed westbound and is likely to remain shut until later this afternoon.

The eastbound carriageway was temporarily closed folowing the crash but has since been reopened.
