A TIDWORTH woman has raised concerns about the length of grass on a popular village byway.

Sally Lane has said she had not been able to ride her horse along Cow Lane, Kimpton in three months.

The 53-year-old said that “everybody” uses the byway and that the overgrowth was putting people’s safety at risk.

She said: “The last lot of children to go through the byway were all cut up by the branches. “It’s not safe right now for people, it’s horrendous.

“I just suffered scratches and cuts down my arms, one of the branches got caught on my arm and then carried on with me.”

Ms Lane owns three horses and says she would not take her horses down the path for their safety.

She added: “The track has never been this bad, it’s been left to overgrow.

“If we ride it or people walk their dogs or even run, you can get straight on the plains but it has been unusable all summer due to it being so overgrown, it runs from Kimpton right down to Perham Down.

“All we want is to use it an we can’t use it. “Someone needs to do something about it and get it cut down.

Andy Harding, assistant highway manager for Hampshire County Council, said: “Sorry for the delay in undertaking this work.

“I’m still investigating why the work did not take place last Wednesday as intended, but in the meantime I can confirm that the work will be carried out on Tuesday [16 August] morning.”
