TRIBUTES have been paid to an Andover teenager who died after being struck by a motorhome as he and a friend attempted to cross the A303.

18-year-old Harry Butler, from Walled Meadow, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, which took place on the westbound carriageway, near Andover, shortly before 9pm on September 16.

His friend, a 23-year-old from Liss, suffered serious injuries and remains in Southampton General Hospital.

His condition is described as stable but life-threatening.

The driver of the motorhome, a white Fiat Ducato, was uninjured.

Following the tragic news of Harry’s death, friends and family left floral tributes at the scene.

A Facebook group named ‘Remembering Harry Butler’ has also been set up in the teenager’s memory.

The group has been inundated with dozens of tributes and pictures posted by both friends and family.

One member posted: “I can’t believe you’re gone. I cried all day yesterday and even now I still am.

“You were my best friend and I couldn’t ask for a better best friend.

“I miss you so much.”

This week friends used the group to organise a balloon release in Harry’s memory.

They tied together and released dozens of red balloons at the event, which took place at Roman Way fields on Tuesday.

Meanwhile police continue to investigate the collision.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

They would also like to speak to anyone who saw either the white Fiat motorhome or the two men prior to the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to contact SCIU on 101, quoting 44160350925.
