A PERSON has been struck by a train between Andover and Salisbury this morning.

South West Trains reported earlier today that a person was hit on the railway line between Basingstoke and Salisbury.

Trains were unable to run between the two stations through Andover as a result.

However all lines have since been reopened.

In a statement, South West Trains said: "Earlier this morning, one of our services struck a person on the railway line between Basingstoke and Salisbury.

"As a result, trains are unable to run between these two stations via Andover.

"All lines have now reopened, and we're able to run trains normally through the area. Services may remain signficantly disrupted for some time as a result of this incident."

The statement continued: "In order to help you complete your journey, we've arranged for your ticket to be accepted on local Stagecoach Bus route 76 between Andover and Basingstoke.

"You can also use your ticket on Great Western Railway services via any reasonable route from the West of England into London Paddington, and also on London Underground services between Paddington and Waterloo.

"We are sorry for any disruption you may experience this morning."
