WITNESSES are being asked to come forward after a female teenager was sexaully assaulted on her way home in Andover. 

The 18-year-old woman noticed she was being followed by a man she did not know, as she walked along River Way. 

The man then approached her and spoke to her, tried to kiss her and pushed her aggressively to the ground.

An unknown woman then came to the aid of the victim, with the man running off. The woman then walked the victim back to her home address.

Police reported that the incident took place between midnight and 1am on March 18, and officers are now looking for a man being described as white, 5ft 8-9ins tall, skinny build, 19/20-years-old, short brown hair, stubble, having a northern accent and wearing blue/black skinny jeans, black trainers and a grey jumper with a red motif on the front.

Detective constable Matt Dennis, of Aldershot CID said: "This is a rare occurrence and we are keen to speak to anyone who has any information about what happened.

“Did you see anything suspicious? Did you see a man matching the above description?

“We would also like to identify and speak to the woman who came to the aid of the victim. She might hold information that could assist our investigation.”
