POLICE have launched an investigation of a serious assault after a man was found with "stab wounds to his leg and torso" in Andover last night.

A 30-year-old man was found on a pathway in the St Anne’s Road and Suffolk Road area by a friend after the attack, which took place shortly after 8pm.

He has been taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment to the serious, but not life threatening injuries, and his condition is described as stable.

Officers believe the victim may have been assaulted by another man and are still trying to establish what happened.

Police have said they are currently treating this assault as an isolated incident.

Anyone who saw someone running away or a vehicle leaving the area shortly after 8pm has been urged to contact police.
