A MIDDLE Wallop-based company celebrated a golden night as they scooped three honours at a regional business awards.

SB Joinery were named Owner Managed Business of the Year and Employer of the Year at the recent South Coast Business Awards.

The bespoke joinery company also won the prestigious Overall Winners Award, chosen from all entrants shortlisted across the eight categories.

Appropriately, SB staff attending the awards ceremony at at the Hilton at the Ageas, wore matching gold bow ties, the colour of the company logo.

They were also accompanied on the night by the company mascot Baloo, a tiny teddy bear.

Darrell Brown, director of SB Joinery, said: “Winning the South Coast Business Awards in three categories is great for a local Andover business.

“To get such recognition in the South is a great reward for our hard working team.”

As well as winning three awards, the firm had also been nominated in two new categories.

There were Sustainable Business of the Year, won by Nursling-based Dynamic Load Monitoring, and Growth Business of the Year won by Eastleighbased energy provider Utilita.

Almost 300 attended the event and were welcomed by Vincent Boni, managing director at Newsquest Hampshire, who backed the awards through our sister paper, The Southern Daily Echo.

Before the awards were handed out the audience heard from guest speaker, Olympic silver medallist Roger Black.

He ran through some of the highlights of his career including winning silver at the Atlanta Olympics behind the legendary Michael Johnson and being part of GB’s gold-winning 4x400m relay team at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo.

His co-host for the evening was Simon Rhodes, partner at law firm Trethowans.
