POLICE have launched an investigation after a woman was assaulted and knocked to the ground in Andover.

The victim, a 23-year-old woman, was walking to work on a path by River Way, at around 3.30am on Wednesday, when she saw three men and a woman walking towards her.

As the group went past, one of the men barged into the her, knocking her to the ground.

The group stood around her for a short time before walking off.

She was left shaken but did not have injuries.

The man who barged into the woman is described as white, in his early 20s, around 5ft 10ins tall and of stocky build with big arms and very short brown hair. He was also wearing a dark-coloured t-shirt and knee-length shorts.

PC Dumisani Sikhosana said: “This appears to have been a one-off incident where the victim did not know anyone in the group that approached her.

“This was early in the morning but we would like to hear from anyone who has any information about this incident, or anyone who was in the area at the time.”
