Police have made one arrest following an incident where counter terrorist officers were called to an Andover property.

Officers arrested a 47-year-old man on suspicion of assault at around 11am this morning at Florence Court.

The man is currently in police custody.

A police spokesperson said: “Due to the circumstances and what had been reported to us, a decision was made that it was appropriate and proportionate for armed officers to be deployed to the address.

“There was no wider risk to the public and officers at the scene have been stood down.”

Police received a report in concern for the welfare of a man at a house in Florence Court at 11.45pm last night.

A spokesperson for Andover Fire Station said the Red Watch were called to the property this morning but left as they were not required.

It has been confirmed it was not a counter terrorism incident.
