A FEW weeks ago, our highways department placed two rubber cables across Millway Road and two across Salisbury Road in the vicinity of the new store being built on the roundabout.
The purpose was to measure the volume of traffic in the area over a reasonably pertinent time span but, after only two weeks, the cables disappeared the day before all the schools in the area went back.
This means that the real volume of traffic would not have been registered. Thus, future street furniture and road markings will be based on false information.
Once up and running this new commercial area in a densely residential part of the town spells danger. The potential for a third fatality here in the not too distant future is stark.
John Porter, Millway Road, Andover.
