GENEROUS guests helped a terminally ill boy celebrate his fourth birthday with a fundraiser.

More than £1,000 was raised at Butter’s Cafe, in High Street, as it held a Hope for Isaac charity event on Sunday.

The fundraiser was set up to help Andover boy, Isaac Blake, who suffers from a very rare condition - Allan-Herndon-Dudley syndrome.

Exclusive to males, it is a rare disorder of brain development that causes moderate to severe intellectual disability and problems with movement.

Earlier this year one of Isaac’s neurologists gave his guardian, Maxine Rothchester, the devastating news he has one year left to live. Since then, she has hoped to raise £10,000 to improve his quality of life.

So, friends of Maxine, Katie Jones and Annabel Pope, organised the event to help raise money and awareness.

Maxine said: “It went really well a really good turnout a beautiful day weather-wise so we were able to stay outside so Isaac did not get too anxious with all the noise.

“Lots of people were able to meet him and everyone said how cute he was. It was brilliant. Annabel and Katie did a wonderful job and everyone enjoyed themselves. Jake Ward sang happy birthday to Isaac too.”

Annabel added: “It was great fun and a huge success in raising £1,156.03. Everybody enjoyed the entertainment from Jake and Lizzie, the kids loved the face painting as did Jake, and Mark Judkins was brave and had his back waxed.

“Lots of money was raised through the raffle and auction - a good afternoon was had by all.”
