CHRISTMAS fanatics have been lighting up the streets with festive spirit and decorations for the whole town to enjoy this December.

From Grateley to Picket Twenty, homeowners have been marking the holidays with extravagant Christmas displays.

Over by Grateley train station, Brian and Susan Green spent a couple of weeks getting ready their biggest display to date for 1 December, which is in aid for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance Service.

On Charlton’s Sunnyside Close, James Saviour had his own Christmas lights switch on ceremony attended to by the mayor of Test Valley Councillor Carl Borg-NEal, councillors, Santa and even Mary and Joseph.

Mr Saviour said appreciation from fellow Charlton residents makes it an inspiration for him to do more.

Philip and Vicky Bowman are lighting up Picket Twenty with their all blue and white display in aid of Andover Mind this year.

This is their second year hosting charity Christmas lights and took the couple three days to complete.

Last year the Bowmans raised £305 for the Countess of Brecknock but they are hoping to smash their target for this year.

Mr Bowman also wanted to thank neighbours Philippa and Simon Tobias for starting up their own lights this year which joins up with the Bowmans own display to create an even bigger spectacle.
