ANDOVER councillors awarded £1,000 to a town centre-based charity to help fund office improvements.

Test Valley borough councillors Iris Andersen, John Cockaday and David Denny presented the money to Test Valley Community Services (TVCS) from the Councillor Community Grant scheme.

The St Mary’s ward representatives awarded the money so the community organisation could improve accessibility in its reception area.

The refurbishment includes an information hub, a dedicated area for Shopmobility customers and space for people with disabilities to move around comfortably.

Cllr Andersen said: “The three of us were keen to award TVCS with the funding because we can all see how many people use the services.

“TVCS run a wide variety of community projects, transport and independence schemes so it is great to be able to help more people feel comfortable in their office.”

The Test Valley Borough Council Councillor Community Grant scheme helps to fund community-led initiatives.

Local councillors allocate funds to projects that they identify as meeting a need in the community based on feedback and ideas from residents.
