A SPECIALIST hairdressers has opened its doors for the very first time in the town centre this week.

J4K, Just for Kids, launched its business in upper High Street on Monday, 15 January and as the name suggests, the hair salon is exclusively aimed for children.

Owner, Sharon Liquorish, who has 23 years of experience, is excited now that the shop is open, adding: “It’s an adventure.”

The salon boasts bright ‘J4K’ graffiti that adorns the walls, AC Cobra mirrors and Mini-shaped chairs for its clientele.

Mother-of-three Sharon said: “I think it’s important to put children in the right environment, and for me, I have come down to their level.

“Because children have to go to barbers and hairdressers with their mums and dads they aren’t in their own environment.

“I want them to come and enjoy themselves and have an experience, and not to force them to have to be somewhere where they’re unhappy.

“All I want to do is get them somewhere they feel comfortable so that they can be done together, boys and girls, so that this is purely for children.”

The hairdressers even allows children to choose their own capes, which come in a variety of prints, including fairies, princesses and cowboys.

To keep them entertained Sharon has installed TV sets in front of the styling chairs showing children-friendly shows like PAW Patrol.

The salon also has a colouring station, iPads and a sweets shop while children are rewarded with stickers and balloons.

Melissa Catt, mother of Charlie, pictured, said: “It’s lovely, it’s great for the kids.”
