BASINGSTOKE Fire Station has been honoured with a prize after coming top in a Christmas fundraising competition.

The Fire Fighters Charity presented an award to the Basingstoke Fire Station team after it raised the highest amount for the charity through festive fundraising.

The fire station, in West Ham Close, raised £4,219.80 which was the largest amount in the charity’s southern region, which includes Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and the Isle of Wight.

Basingstoke firefighters took part in an array fundraising activities, including carol singing at Waitrose in Basing View.
