TWO students at Everest Community Academy have become the first at the school to be presented with a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
Christopher Chambers and Ayomide Olumade have been presented with their bronze awards having both spent between three and six months improving their skills and giving back to the community through voluntary projects and taking on physical recreation.
The school in Oxford Way, Popley, joined the scheme last year.
The pair along with four other students planned and led their own self-sufficient two day expedition in the New Forest, carrying everything they would need between them.
The award is going from strength to strength at the school as numbers have doubled and this year’s participants will be appearing in various charity shops, assisting a nursery and teaching primary school children foreign languages to name a few.
