FURTHER investigations are being carried out today (Thursday, 22 February) in connection with the death of Jason Williams.

Officers have cordoned off a pond near Tobago Close, Popley as part of the ongoing investigations into the 41-year-olds death.

Police were seen to be using nets to search the pond and were making further enquires to residents in the area.

One resident told The Gazette: “I came out of my house and there was about a dozen officers around.

“When I walked past the pond I could see them using what looked like pully ropes and nets in the pond.”

Mr Williams, of St Peter’s Road, South Ham, was found dead in Russell Howard Park at around 1.20am on Tuesday, 20 February.

An ongoing investigation is being carried out by officers in relation to the incident where Mr Williams was killed by a single stab wound to the chest.

Two men, a 34-year-old and a 37-year-old, both from Basingstoke, were arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday (Wednesday, 21 February).

Both men remain in police custody after magistrates granted a warrant of further detention for 36 hours.
