THE centre of Andover was given a spruce up last week.
The fourth annual Tidy Day on Friday last week encompassed a range of events involving businesses and the community including a litter pick, bollard re-painting and improvements to key areas of concern.
The event was sponsored by Simplyhealth, which also provided a team of staff to join the litter pick, while equipment and support was provided by
Test Valley Borough Council’s environmental services team which
also assisted with the litter pick and carried out other cleansing
tasks.
Town centre manager Gemma Thompson said: “Part of the work of the Town Centre Partnership is to improve the appearance and attractiveness of the town and what better way than to take direct action to improve some very visible issues.
“We were overjoyed with the turnout of businesses, residents and pupils from Harrow Way Community School, which meant that, despite the cold and threat of snow, we collected 32 refuse sacks from around the town.”
Alie Paxton, spokesperson for Simplyhealth, added: “We’ve helped out every year with the Andover Town Tidy and love getting involved.
“It’s great to work together with other members of the community for the benefit of the town and all do our bit to support the Great British Spring Clean initiative.”
