ROMSEY Primary School has raised thousands of pounds for Romsey Young Carers.

The school saw every pupil taking part running one mile around the school field last month.

On April 20, the youngsters took to the field in a bid to raise the funds for the town charity.

Romsey and District Young Carers supports those offering carers aged between five and 25 in Romsey and the south of Test Valley.

It offers activities and experiences to offer respite and the chance for the younger carers to meet other people.

Along with teachers and parents, the students ran a combination of just more than 210 miles, which is roughly the equivalent of eight marathons.

The school has raised around £2,000 for the charity, and an online fundraising page that has been set up, has reached more than £500.

There are several young carers who attend Romsey Primary School, so the school say the charity is “very special to us”.
