A GROUP from Whitchurch’s twin town came to visit for a week in the 39th year of the two areas being paired up.
A delegation of 26 people from Whitchurch’s twin town of Neuvic-sur-l’Isle in southwest France visited the town from May 5 to May 10.
They were greeted with an afternoon cream tea at All Hallows Church, which was followed by an evening of sampling cottage pie and cider.
Then, the group went on a Thames river cruise from Runnymede with on-board picnic to visit a reproduction of the Bayeux Tapestry at Reading Museum.
Beth Shearing, chairman of the Testbourne Parishes Twinning Association, said: “It was an honour and a privilege to be able to welcome to Whitchurch and then share the days with our French guests and friends in such glorious weather. We all enjoyed our days of varied activities and look forward to the very special visit we will make to Neuvic next year, the 40th anniversary of our twinning.”
