AN ANDOVER school has teamed up with a specialist horse company to offer a unique programme to support parents and is now appealing for help.

Wolverdene School and Tower House Horses are bidding for Tesco customers to vote for the project to come to fruition.

The scheme will offer parents the chance to improve their mental health and wellbeing by interacting with horses as those at the school face challenges in caring for children with special needs.

Headteacher Paul Van Walwyk said: “We are excited about this project and hope we are successful in introducing it for our parents, who need all the support we can give them.

“We have heard positive reports of how horses can help humans in this way and are keen to see our parents reap the benefits.”

The school already offers support for groups of parents but it is hoped that the sessions will allow participants to develop better communication and more fulfilling relationships.

Susie Little, director of Tower House Horses, said: “We do hope Tesco shoppers get behind this project and help us to earn a sizeable cash boost, which would mean we could start our programme for Wolverdene School parents this autumn.

"I went into Tesco the other day and we're neck and neck at the moment."

Tesco customers in Andover stores will be able to vote for the month of June.
