A 12-YEAR-OLD girl inspired by a charitable cause has held a bake sale and dog show for a second year running collectively raising more than £1,200.

Natasha Richardson, from Thruxton, ran her second event on Saturday, May 5, in aid of The Humaninal Trust which encourages collaboration between vets, doctors and researchers so both humans and animals can benefit from medical progress.

Last year Natasha raised a near £700, and this month’s event added a further £561.80 so far for the cause set up in 2014.

Natasha said: “I wanted to do something to help both humans and animals.

“The Humanimal Trust promote a way of human and veterinary medicine working together to achieve that. “I really enjoy putting the show together and look forward to running it each year.”

Natasha’s mum, Alison, said it was all her daughter’s idea and work.

Natasha created her own advertising for the important day, and the dog show included "fun classes" of prettiest bitch, handsome dog, best behaved and best rescue.

Thruxton Parish Council has agreed Natasha can run the event on an annual basis.

The Humaninal Trust spokesperson Jo Blake added: “Natasha has shown amazing dedication to our work, and tremendous skills in being able to successfully organise not one but two events of this size at her very young age.

“We are delighted to have inspired her with our campaign and hope that many others will follow her example. We had a wonderful time at the show, which included a raffle, opportunities to learn about more unusual pets, and of course all the fabulous cakes Natasha had baked in order to add to funds raised.

“She and her family should be immensely proud of what she has achieved.”

Donations can still be made via Natasha’s fundraising page justgiving.com/fundraising/natasha-richardson6.
