A TRAIN fault is causing disruption for morning commuters between Basingstoke and Salisbury.
National Rail has reported that a fault with the brakes of a Basingstoke train has led it to block the line heading towards the town.
Train running from between Salisbury and Basingstoke are expected to experience delays of up to an hour with some trains being diverted via Southampton and not stopping at either Salisbury or Basingstoke.
One angry commuter told said it has taken them more than an hour to get from Andover to Overton.
He said: "It's ridiculous! The train is packed and we've not moved from Overton for 30 mins.
"It's taken over an hour to get from Ando to here, no wonder people are tutting and sighing."
A statement on the National Rail website read: “Due to a train fault between Salisbury and Basingstoke the Basingstoke bound line is disrupted. Train services running through these stations may be delayed by up to 60 minutes. Disruption is expected until 11:00.”
