CROWDS of families celebrated and honoured the armed forces at a special day in Andover.

The town’s Armed Forces Day was held at Vigo Recreation Ground on Sunday, with a range of activities and attractions on offer for all to enjoy.

The event, organised by Love Andover, commemorated the town’s connection with the military community and invited local troops the 22 Engineer Regiment and the Prince of Wales Regiment.

There was also displays for the Royal Navy, air cadets and the Army Air Corp and a performance from the Southern Track Pipe Band.

Children and big kids alike had the chance to sit inside a Gazelle Helicopter, military vehicles, try on forces gear and even play hook a duck with a huge military JCB.

In the arena and on the stage crowds watched bands perform and tricks from talented dogs, along with a falconry display and wander around the stalls from local organisations.

Organiser David Harber said: “Without exception everyone who attended said this year was much better than last - there was a really good feel in the park.”
