A MAN caught driving whilst over the legal limit has been ordered to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work.

Viorel Patrut, of Tintagel Close, Andover, was stopped while driving his silver Suzuki on May 15 this year in King Arthurs Way and a breath test found the 34-year-old had 101 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35.

On Wednesday last week Basingstoke Magistrates Court heard that Patrut admitted to the offence at an earlier hearing.

Magistrates imposed a 12-month community order and he was also disqualified from driving for 24 months and told to pay an £85 victim surcharge, along with a court costs of £85.
