TIME to spruce up your gardens as a new competition is coming to town hoping to make Andover “even more fabulous.”

Andover in Bloom has been launched for its first year, and is encouraging entrants for its front garden competition, ‘Front Gardens in Bloom.’

The group is also hosting a cafes and restaurants competition for those in the town centre who will be automatically entered and judged by the end of July.

Founder Rebecca Whitewick said she was inspired with the idea after watching Britain in Bloom on television.

She said: “I have lived in Andover almost all my life and it is a good town, like all towns it has its ups and downs and I am really looking forward to getting some fabulous projects up and running to bring in a few more ups.

“These can all help boost community spirit and increase visitors which in turn can help our town economy.

“It's not all just about flowers, it's about the environment, conservation, local animals and wildlife, bringing the community together to create an even more beautiful Andover.

“We would love people to start now by entering the Front Gardens in Bloom competition to add their little touch to making Andover even more fabulous.”

Residents are already being told to “watch this space”as Andover in Bloom is entering the South and South East in Bloom in January 2019 for judging to take place next July.

The entry deadline for this year’s Front Garden in Bloom is July 15.

Prizes are afternoon tea for two, £60 garden centre gift card and fence paint.
