ATHLETES from all over the UK will converge in Andover tomorrow as the town will play host to its annual triathlon.

The event on June 15 at Farleigh School has been organised and will be marshalled by members of the Andover Triathlon Club, along with an army of volunteers.

Adult races will take place from 7am, finishing at around 9.30am, with children’s competitions happening in the afternoon from around 12.30pm to about 5pm.

Around 150 eager adult participants will take on a 440-metre pool swim, 30km bike ride on the open road through the surrounding villages and an 8km run, with children’s races covering various distances depending on the respective age groups.

And for the second year running Great Britain professional triathlete Vicky Gill, this year joined by fellow GB pro Simone Mitchell, will be presenting prizes to the winners of each of the races.

Unfortunately, the event is now fully booked, as is tradition for this occasion, but there is plenty taking place such as various food and drink stalls, a bouncy castle, suppliers of triathlon and sport-related goods and services.
