A GROUP of customers and staff from an Andover pub took on the Race for Life to remember loved ones.

For the 12th year running, a team from the Foresters Arms, in London Street, donned their trainers to run the annual fundraising race.

Landlady Anne Evans decided to get employees and regulars involved after taking over the helm at the pub, and so far they have raised £7,500 over the year.

She said: “The staff and I have rallied around since I have been here. It is lovely and we all get emotional when we take part.

“Everyone has been touched by cancer and everyone is really supportive when we say why we are doing the race and the donations are really high.”

It is not only family members who the team have lost to the disease but customers have also lost their battles.

But, that has spurred the women on even more and on Sunday, July 1, the team travelled to Southampton to be a part of the day.

“It is so emotional when you are running as you read peoples’ backs as to why they are doing it,” Anne added.

The team were supported by customers from the pub as they crossed the finish line together.

Just this year the women have raised £500 for Cancer Research UK through donations and sponsorship.
