POLICE are warning about a group of 'rogue traders' in Hampshire after an incident involving builders.
A homeowner was approached by a group of builders who offered to carry out free minor repairs to the house - if the homeowner placed an advertising board outside their home.
But once the free works were completed, the builders then 'advised' the homeowner that a substantial amount of work was needed and asked for a large upfront payment.
The homeowner declined and later reported the builders.
The incident happened between July 12 and July 19 at a property in Stockbridge.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "Please do feel confident to decline work, especially from cold callers.
"If you are in need of work completed round the house, ask neighbours or friends for recommendations."
