MORE than 100 keen walkers from across the county enjoyed a stroll through the unspoilt countryside around Tidworth in the latest Get Wiltshire Walking challenge.
The Wiltshire Council initiative encourages people to enjoy walks in some of the county’s most attractive landscapes.
Walkers set off from Tidworth Leisure Centre to explore the natural landscape that forms part of the Salisbury Plain training area, with the option of walking for four or six miles.
The route followed field tracks and paths through terrain that has been allowed to grow wild, providing a habitat for a rich array of wild flowers and wildlife.
Councillor John Thomson, Wiltshire Council’s cabinet member for leisure, said: “Get Wiltshire Walking is a fabulous project which gives people a great opportunity to explore our beautiful county while enjoying healthy exercise.
“For many of the walkers this was a first visit to the area and all were impressed by the stunning scenery.”
