A TEAM of adventurous colleagues rose to the Three Peaks Challenge, beating the clock and their fundraising target.

Staff at medicine manufacturing company Crescent Pharma, based in Overton, climbed the highest peaks of England, Scotland and Wales under the 24 hour time-limit, completing the hikes in 23 hours and 30 minutes.

The team of 11 took to the hills on July 18, with one ambitious member, "superman" Gary Illingworth completing the challenge on a mountain bike.

Gary said: "That was one of the most brutal things I’ve ever done on a mountain bike, but I loved every minute of it. What are we doing next?”

Julia Allwood added: “It was not as bad as I expected to be honest. Kudos to everyone that made it to the end amidst a multitude of pain and discomfort.”

The group hoped to raise £5,000 from the venture to be split between charities Project Gambia, Inter Care and Beta Charitable Trust which support basic human needs projects in Africa.

Instead, the colleagues went above and beyond hitting a £6,115 total.
