A MAN accused of spraying graffiti on a number of businesses in the town is to stand trial.

Alex Leigh, of Quicksilver Way, Andover, pleaded not guilty to six counts of criminal damage involving attacks on buildings around Andover between August 10 and August 12.

On Monday, August 13, Basingstoke Magistrates Court heard that Mr Leigh is accused of smearing graffiti on a British Heart Foundation shop in High Street, St Mary's Surgery, The Beauty Salon and Dunnings Undertakers in Church Close. 

The 24-year-old is said to have also damaged Belvoir estate agent's door in Bridge Street and Andover Police Station's front door. 

He has also pleaded not guilty to assaulting a police officer during his arrest. 

His arrest came after a spate of graffiti of the anarchy symbol and devil's number 666 was seen across Andover.

Mr Leigh has been released on bail until October 12 when he is due to stand trial at the same court.
