YEAR 11 sports studies pupils at John Hanson Community School organised a gymnastics competition for year one pupils from surrounding schools.

The pupils had to organise a competition as part of their course and chose to do a Key Steps programme from the English Gymnastics governing body.

Ten teams of four year one pupils performed the same routine and the year 11s acted as judges, with the winning team coming from Shipton Bellinger Primary School.

The year 11s worked for about three months to organise the competition and secondary school sports co-ordinater for John Hanson, Helen Vant, said they did extremely well.

"They all had to do so much to get this competition up and running from choosing what to do to getting a qualification allowing them to judge," she said.

"They loved every minute and we've had wonderful feedback from everybody who came and watched."
