A LUDGERSHALL single mum who had been saving all year to fund her summer holiday in Spain had her money taken from her home after she was rushed to hospital for an emergency appendectomy.
Claire Robins, a 36-year-old childminder from Short Street, had been putting money in a sealed tin every time she had some spare cash and had amassed at least £700 in the tin.
But when she was rushed to hospital the security of her home was compromised and someone took the tin - possibly someone she knows or a sneak thief.
But she hopes that whoever was responsible would have a qualm of conscience and replace the money.
"This is the first holiday I was taking as a single parent and I wanted to be able to spoil my two children," said Claire.
"Now we will have to be much more careful although fortunately I have paid half-board for the holiday in the Costa Dorada.
"I haven't even cried yet about this money going because I still feel in a state of shock about it I think.
"I cannot believe that someone I know has done this.
"I just wanted them to know how pants my holiday will be now that I will have very little spending money."
The theft has been reported to police.
