EARLY this afternoon one of the most eagerly awaited projects in Andover's history gets underway when the doors open at Reel Cinema on top of Asda.
The 21st Century facility offers four screens each showing the latest movies.
For the owner Mr KC Suri it is perhaps his most exciting venture to date - even though he runs a string of cinemas and has opened purpose-built facilities before.
None has had such potential as the new building in Andover - or as much legroom.
"This is our fourth new cinema and each time we build we learn something new and find it is better to do something in a certain way," he said.
"To begin with we will be showing all blockbuster movies but as time goes by and we gain more knowledge of the audience we will see what other movies may be required."
He is already preparing for a senior citizens club and says the venue will be available for children's parties.
The four auditoriums each seat between 130 and 192 people with space allocated for wheelchair-users.
Huge sums have been spent importing the latest technology from Canada to ensure sound proofing between each screen.
It needs to be good as the sound system in the cinema is built to cope with the sound requirements of modern movies such as Transformers, which have a base you can almost feel.
This new cinema offers a further attraction - you can enjoy an alcoholic beverage and drink it while taking in perhaps the most spectacular view in Andover.
