Husband charged with murder

A MAN was remanded in custody by Basingstoke Magistrates Court today charged with the murder of his wife at their Amport home.

Alisdair Sinclair is accused of stabbing Sally Sinclair at the couple's home in Georgia Lane, Amport on Saturday night.

Mr Sinclair, aged 47, spoke only to state his name, address and date of birth.

The couple had been renting the secluded five-bedroom property where her body was found and pronounced dead at the scene.

Mrs Sinclair, aged 40, was head of business analysis at mobile phone company Vodafone, in Newbury Before the hearing the parents of only child Sally paid tribute to her in a statement.

Mum Nicolette Alford said: "She was the most caring person I have ever known.

"Even if she was upset or unhappy, she would always think of others first and offer sympathy and support.

"She didn't want people to worry about her, so she would keep her troubles to herself, whilst putting on a brave face for the rest of the world.

"I cannot think of anybody who would have a bad word to say about her, wherever she went, school, college, employment, she was always popular, people just wanted to be her friend."

Step-father Barry Alford added: "We will always remember Sally as being caring, hardworking, intelligent and delightful to know.

"She has achieved so much in her life and was about to embark on a new course."

Mr Sinclair is due to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Friday 28 November.
