Join Andover’s new film club

ANDOVER Film Club will be launched at the REEL Cinema in Andover on 15 September with the aim of showing films that may not otherwise come to Andover.

The club, a not-for-profit initiative, has been formed by a small group of cinema enthusiasts who also want to improve awareness of the art of film, and encourage general use of cinema as the preferred means of seeing film.

The scope of club presentations embraces British independent films, art-house films, the finest films of world cinema and classics that deserve to be seen again on the big screen.

The club will also be presenting new and recent releases of films that may not otherwise get distribution in the area.

Presentations are open to the public as well as members, and from October they will be held on the first Monday evening of the month.

The launch film to be screened at REEL Cinema on 15 September at 7.30pm is the new release Man On Wire (cert12A), which has received five-star reviews and focuses on tightrope walker Philippe Petit's daring and illegal high-wire act between New York City's World Trade Center's twin towers in 1974.

The second presentation, on 6 October, is the Oscar-winning Daniel Day Lewis film There Will Be Blood (cert 15).

Benefits of membership include influencing the choice of film, priority booking for film club related events and, from October, savings on ticket prices for club presentations and a one-off two-for-the-price-of-one REEL Cinema voucher for any other REEL presentation.

Details on how to join Andover Film Club are available on launch night, by visiting www.andover filmclub.org or by e-mailing info@andover filmclub.org for further information.
