A SPECIALLY commissioned dance film will be premiered on June 22 at The Lights as part of the venue’s ongoing education and outreach programme.
The Dance in the Valley film features many local dancers who take part in creative classes at The Lights and are aged from two to over 70.
The aim of the film project was to produce a collaboration of art forms including dance, film, music and animation.
This helped to offer people further opportunities to take part in the arts to build confidence, develop skill and creativity as well as offering the chance to work with creative professionals.
The different dance groups involved were adults practising belly dance, the youth group learning street dance, women enjoying Strictly-style dances and, for this project, contemporary dance and movement were explored with parents and tots.
Music was specially commissioned for the dancers to learn their routines to and as the score for the film by local composer Dominic Beeton.
All the participants, who will watch the premiere with friends and family, will be performing on stage before the film is screened and will all go home with a copy of the film of DVD as a souvenir.
