Update: Hampshire model Katie Piper welcomes Simon Cowell as patron of her new charity

A FORMER Andover schoolgirl will tell her story on a Channel 4 Cutting Edge programme on Thursday when she relives the moment when a deranged boyfriend arranged for acid to be thrown across her face.

The act changed Katie Piper forever and the life-threatening injuries she received left her disfigured.

Katie, a former pupil at Harrow Way School , had been enjoying life as a TV presenter when she met 34-year-old 6ft 4in cage fighter Daniel Lynch and had a brief relationship.

But as she was going to end it, Lynch arranged for Stefan Sylvestre to throw the industrial strength acid over her in Golders Green High Street after he had raped her the night before in a Bayswater hotel.

Now, after 30 operations and still with her face disfigured, Katie, 26, has waived her right to anonymity to speak in public about her fightback and the months of pain and suffering she has endured.

Lynch and Silvestre were jailed for life and told by the judge at Wood Green Crown Court that they were ‘the face of pure evil’.

Harrow Way deputy head, Mark Warren, said: “She was a popular, bubbly pupil, very sociable with lots of friends and supportive parents.”
