Fun and fundraising for Children in Need

A TIME of fun and frolics took over Andover last week when several groups and organisations raised money for Children in Need.

As part of the annual fundraising appeal, which raised over £20 million nationwide last Friday, people did all sorts of things in the name of charity including dressing up, racing in pyjamas and making Pudsey hats.

Beavers, cubs and scouts of the 22nd Andover Scout Group decided to do their bit for Children in Need by making Pudsey badges, hats and cakes which raised over £60.

Childcare students from Andover College ventured out into the town's High Street to give away Pudsey puppets, badges and balloons to the donating public raising more than £846.

Pyjamas were the clothing of choice for Harrow Way Community School and Wolverdene School.

The Harrow Way students raised almost £900 by holding a pyjama run, cakes sales and word puzzles while youngsters at Wolverdene enjoyed a pyjama party raising £192 for Children in Need.

At Winton School BTEC students were joined by pupils from Harrow Way and John Hanson Community Schools for a hospitality day where they raised £120 by baking and selling cakes.

Staff from Andover's Superdrug hung up their uniform for the day and wore superhero costumes to work instead. Wonderwoman, Batman, James Bond and many others raised £200.
