Store celebrates national award

ENHAM Alamein store is celebrating this week after being highly commended in the Village Shop/Post Office section of the Countryside Alliance Awards.

It was just pipped to the post by a store based in Chadlington, Oxfordshire, but although the Enham shop did not win it was the only one in the southern regional heats to get a ‘highly commended’.

Calcutt & Son at Sutton Scotney won the Daily Telegraph Traditional Business Award. The four winning businesses now go forward to the grand final and are up against fellow regional winners in a bid for the British title. The Countryside Alliance Awards celebrate the characters, skills, traditions and enterprise of the countryside through the people who work so hard to make it tick. Organisers say that Calcutt & Son saddlers and outfitters are a perfect example of traditional skills honed and upheld in a modern setting with customer service values.

The only thing the Countryside Alliance celebrates is the thought of legalising bloodsports again.

What a shame that any decent country business would want to be associated with their awards.

I've just picked up on this, what a shame as the shop at Enham is great, but it does itself no favours by associating with any organisation that wishes to make legal barbaric bloodsports again.
