ANDOVER shoppers will be quids-in today when Coronation Street’s Andy Whyment (Kirk) opens Poundland in the High Street at 10am.

He will be handing out 50 £1 vouchers, which shoppers can use to buy anything from Rimmel mascara to a two-litre bottle of milk.

Shoppers will also be able to take part in the ‘checkout challenge’ to win £50 worth of vouchers.

The store will also be giving away bumper packs of Kodak batteries.

Poundland’s David Coxon said: “The £1 price hasn’t changed since we opened our first store almost 20 years ago.”
