POLICE are appealing for information after a man working in a kebab van parked in New Street, Andover, was assaulted at approximately 12.20am on Monday.
The 38-year-old was serving a customer who became abusive and punched him in the face, causing a sore and bloody nose. The customer then smashed two windows of the vehicle pulling the kebab van.
The customer is described as white, about 25, 6ft, slim and muscular, with a local accent and prominent cheek bones.
He had short hair and was wearing a light-coloured jacket.
PC Doug Thornton said: “During the assault the kebab van worker threw some food items, such as ketchup and other sauces, at the man to try to get him to go away. It may be that the offender returned home in the early hours of Monday morning with stained clothing.
“I would appeal to anyone who can assist us in identifying the offender, or has any information, to contact us.”
Anyone with information should contact PC Thornton at Andover police station on 101, or call Crimestoppers, the charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Callers from outside Hampshire and the Isle of Wight should dial 0845 045 4545.
